Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens的点评
点评：We enjoyed our morning at the Jacksonville Zoo—it was our first time visiting, as we are new to the area. Parking was easy and free. Getting our tickets was also easy. As first timers, I will start by saying that the zoo layout is a little confusing and signage is spotty—we aren’t actually sure that we saw everything, but I’m sure we’ll be back, so if we missed anything we’ll catch it next time. At times we weren’t always sure what we were seeing, as not all of the animals have signage around them. There is probably an app, but we didn’t really want to be glued to our phones while enjoying the zoo, so we just went with the flow.
The gardens in the zoo are gorgeous—so many different plants and flowers. They do a beautiful job with landscaping and maintaining them. We were also impressed with the variety of wildlife. We enjoyed watching the otters and seeing the giraffes and the jaguars and the elephants. We were also there during the lantern festival. We didn’t get to see them lit up at night, but even during the day they are impressive and really add to the beauty of the zoo!
Finally, I’ll comment on the food—we ate at one of the restaurants in the zoo, Palm Plaza Café. We ordered, got our food and ate outside. We watched one of the zoo staff give a presentation on exotic birds while we ate, which was cool. The food was outstanding—it was not your typical zoo fare like hot dogs and grilled cheese. It was a little more upscale. It was also a little more expensive, but we didn’t mind the pricing because the food was so good.
Overall a great zoo that I’d highly recommend spending a few hours at if you’re in the Jacksonville/northeast Florida area!
