So good that we did it again!
Barboursville Vineyards and Historic Ruins的点评
点评：We visited Barboursville Vineyards twice on this trip. On the first visit, we did the wine tasting. Despite the vintner having two other parties of "tasters," he made all of us feel very special. He spent time telling us about the wine, how it's made and Barboursville Vineyards' incredible winemaker. He also answered our questions about the process, grapes and what we were tasting. We had difficulty making our selections because we found that so many of the wines at this vineyard were to our liking.
Later in the week, we found ourselves going back to Barboursville. This time we walked the ruins. The home was built by Thomas Jefferson for James Barbour, the 18th governor of Virginia. Sadly, it burned, but it creates a stately backdrop for the property.
On this visit, we also went to the Library 1821 which is next to the tasting room. This is where they serve their older vintages of wines with light fare. We each chose a favorite wine and ordered the small meat and cheese charcuterie board. This was the perfect amount of food, and it was all really tasty. A few of our favorites were the duck prosciutto, pork prosciutto and the cherry infused mustard. My husband enjoyed the focaccia bread while I had the gluten free almond crackers. The wait staff for Library 1821 were all very helpful and knowledgeable. We could not decide which of the two days we enjoyed more!
