Unforgettable whale shark experience – totally worth the journey!

点评：We did the 2-day / 1-night trip from Lombok to Sumbawa, and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Our guide, Ramdani, was incredible – super friendly, helpful, and always made sure we felt comfortable and informed.
The drive takes about 10 hours with stops, but it didn’t feel long at all thanks to a comfortable car, great driver, and some awesome local street food along the way (seriously, so good!). The hotel for the overnight stay was really nice and relaxing.
Early next morning we went to the harbor – and had a chance to nap a bit more on the boat before a delicious breakfast (a mountain of fresh fruit!). And then… the whale sharks arrived for theirs.
What made it even more special was that we had the place almost entirely to ourselves – just us and a few local fishermen. About 90% of the time, it felt like our own private encounter with these incredible creatures.
We also really appreciated that the experience isn’t commercialized – yes, the sharks are used to being fed, so it’s not 100% wild, but they are absolutely free to come and go. We even saw local marine authorities doing a check while we were there, which shows it’s well monitored and respected.
A truly magical, respectful and memorable wildlife experience – highly recommended!
