点评:When my tour guide insisted that we visit Casa Cruz at the start of our 2 day tour round Oaxaca, the first thing that came into my mind was “pressurised shopping”. However, since our guide rarely insists that we visit any attractions, I just went with the flow.
Sure enough, my guide was right. I am so glad we made the visit.
Upon arrival, Mr Cruz gave us a succinct introduction of how their “trapices” are hand made, riding on methods handed down from many generations before him. He showed us how they source their raw materials, gave a demo of they are spun, knitted and even showed us how the various dyes are made (a very fun experience!)
After the introduction, he showed us some of their end products but there was never au pressure to purchase any of them. All Mr Cruz wanted was for us to learn about his family tradition, which him and his family are working extremely hard on keeping.
