点评:Tour started bang on time, with a warm welcome from Liz. A short walk from reception led us to the abbey ruins, luckily it was warm and sunny. The fascinating history was well explained and very interesting indeed. Then over to the distillery which was in silent season, so no production in progress. This didn’t matter as still plenty to see. Liz continued to provide clear and concise information. Then over to the warehouse to see the full casks undergoing maturation.
The tour culminated with a tasting session to try 3 different whiskies, 2 of which I happen to have in my stash. I noted that the samples we tasted were nowhere near as good as the bottles I have at home, which I later confirmed. Not sure why, maybe because they’d been out for a while and because it was a hot day. I would’ve liked to have an opportunity to ask a few questions but Liz was soon gone during the tasting which was a shame. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to anyone, particularly a whisky enthusiast like myself.
