点评:I visited this well known landmark in Largs as a child and decided to seek it out many decades later as an adult. It's not too far from the yacht marina (which I don't think existed when I was young) and you could probably park there and walk around. We drove towards the town instead and after a bit of searching found a parking space. I don't remember it being such a long walk from the town centre but my memory is probably not as good as it was back then and I was no doubt fitter! My wife decided to potter around the beach instead whilst I carried on alone.
I suspect there has been a bit of development over the years since there are now many flats overlooking the water, however a path still exits to the location and there is a small park at The Pencil to sit and admire the view if you want to linger for a short time. Probably worth a look if you're passing by or going down memory lane - it commemorates victory over the Vikings in 1263.
