点评:The museum is outside of Chicago's main tourist areas, located in Hyde Park. There is a bus that goes there from the Loop during the summer. Be sure to check the bus hours as they are limited. The museum website said that it was sold out for the day that we wanted to go. Our friend called and was able to reserve tickets anyway. When we arrived, we tried to use our Chicago City Pass to pay, but were unable to do so, probably because the museum was sold out. It was a day when Illinois residents got free admission. When we explained our predicament to the guy at the ticket counter, he went above and beyond to help us out. The museum itself is huge and has lots of interesting exhibits. You could easily spend the whole day there. You can tour the German submarine exhibit, but there is an additional fee to go inside the sub. We also paid an extra fee to do the coal mine tour, which was interesting and informative, led by an enthusiastic tour guide. It is very kid-friendly and has lots of interactive exhibits. For example, the kids loved the mirror maze. The Griffin has an outpost of Stans Donuts where you can pick up a quick snack to keep you going.
