点评:According to the organisers of the boat tours, it’s a community endeavour to which tourists contribute by booking.
Whether or not this is accurate, the trip itself (choice of 2, 3, or 4 hours) is a very good way to discover both the flora and forna of the lake, as well as interacting with the locals.
If possible, we’d highly recommend choosing Joshua, who has a knowledge of the lake that must be hard to rival, and an engaging way of explaining everything.
We opted for the 3-hour trip, which included a stop at Ol Kokwe Island, where the locals (a Maasai tribe) take advantage of the natural hot spring to offer a couple of different, short activities (boiled eggs, sauna, fish pedicure). Joshua has also trained two Ospreys to fetch fish in front of the boat, for a great photo opportunity. And a strong likelihood of seeing crocodiles, fish, birds and, maybe, some hippos.
