点评:PROS
* Part of iconic epic famous hiking trail
* Good hiking- not easy/not too difficult
* Very good views and scenery
* Easy to access and egress from roads and civilization
* The trail passes the Appalachian Trail Conservatory, the extremely interesting and historic Harpers Ferry cemetery and Jefferson Rock... all with poor signage.
CONS
* As in other parts and sections of the trail, it's narrow.
* The markers and signage are barely adequate, but it's not that one can get lost
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... when I learned that there is a several kilometer hiking trek between the Harpers Ferry Visitor Center and the Historic Lower Town. With that, I was literally off to start the trail immediately.
The views of the forest and river are very nice. Even the views and sounds of the route 340 bridge were interesting- I took many photos of course.
At two points, I saw a good number of steep steps going off to the left- the first time, a fellow hiker told me that that was the Appalachian Trail Conservatory- I wasn't interested and kept hiking.
The second time, I didn't know what it was, so I climbed up there and was treated to exploring the historic cemetery from the 1700s.
I enjoyed this walk and I also stopped at stopped at Jefferson Rock.
ADVICES
Park at the visitor center off highway 340 and hike to the Lower Town- a bit challenging, but enjoyable and worth it. There is a bus for return (for cheaters).
