I summited Island Peak at 6:02 AM on October 17 with my amazing guide, Niru Rai, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life!
I met Niru in Chhukung on the evening of October 15 — a funny, friendly, and easygoing person I got along with immediately. The next day, we picked up our equipment and trekked to Island Peak Base Camp. Niru quickly assessed my pace and capability and built a perfect plan and schedule for summit day.
Once at base camp, he provided a hands-on training session to make sure I felt confident and fully understood how to use all the climbing gear safely. His attention to detail and focus on security gave me total confidence before the climb.
We left base camp at 1:00 AM after breakfast and moved at a great pace. When it was time for crampons and rope, we attached together for safety. At no point did I feel unsafe — Niru made sure I was always looked after.
After the fixed rope sections, we reached the summit at 6:02 AM — just in time for an unforgettable sunrise after a 5-hour climb. It was breathtaking! 🌄
We spent about 45 minutes at the top, then descended smoothly back to base camp. Everything went perfectly.
This was a 10/10 experience — great company, an excellent and professional guide, and a flawless climb.
I highly recommend doing this climb in a small group (duo or trio) with @Niru Rai for the best experience possible.
Now that I’m hooked, I’ll definitely be back for the next level — and I’ll make sure it’s with the same amazing team!
