点评:The Broadway High Street just oozes Cotswold charm. It has a village green and is lined with historic buildings and honey-coloured houses with thatched roofs. Many of the houses were built in the 17th century and some of the buildings like the Abbot’s Grange and the Prior’s Manse, date back to medieval times.
At one end, the High St is all residential - the houses are very pretty and reflect the past prosperity of the town. Wealthy medieval merchants built fine houses off the back of the sheep and wool market. Wool trading made Broadway a very wealthy place. The sheep were known as the 'Cotswold Lions’ and their wool was referred to as ‘the Golden Fleece’. In the Middle Ages, the High Street was filled with flocks of sheep on market day and European traders who bought future options on the wool.
Once we hit the main stretch, the street was lined with boutique shops selling high quality goods. There are plenty of clothing and gift shops to browse at. There was a lovely children’s toy shop and the very tempting Cotswolds Chocolates. The Broadway Deli has everything you’s need for a wonderful picnic. We couldn’t resist stopping at Tisanes Tea Rooms, a very pretty traditional tearoom which looked like something out of the pages of a Jane Austen book.
PARKING:
We thought parking was difficult but we later discovered that there is a large paid parking area in Church Close, pretty much behind St Michael and All Angels Church. We just couldn’t see it as we drove into Broadway. You would need to know it was there or be looking at a map. The carpark also has a public toilet block and you can cut through an arcade to get to the High Street.

(St Michael and All Angels Church) 的后面。
