点评:One morning while staying in Lakes recently we walked along the Esplanade to the foot bridge that takes you over to the 90 mile beach and did the Entrance Walk through the sand dunes /bush.
All the way to the Entrance we seemed to be followed by birds chirping away in the bush, hard to see them as they blended in very well.
There and back is about 5 Kilometres. There are lots of interesting trees and vegetation to view as well as looking over the water to the town.
Before you come to the entrance you pass some of the homes that were built for the workers when the entrance was built back in the 1890s.
When you get to the entrance you can go onto the beach and walk to the end of the concrete entrance, great place there to see boats going in and out, they need to know what they are doing as the water there looks very turbulent and running fast.
We were also lucky to see seals there playing in the water and laying on the rocks, you can hear them clearly a long way away.
There is also a lot of old machinery and a couple of buildings from the construction days, also under cover is a big old timber barge that was used to transport rocks etc for the works.
There are information boards at these explaining there use and history.
The Entrance was man made and took quite a few years to construct.
Very interesting place to walk to, only other way to get there would be by boat. You could walk there along the beach as well.
