点评:I've been to quite a lot of ecosanctuaries and bird reserve sort of places now, and what stands out about this one to me is the number of Saddleback (Tīeke) that were around. Usually just see one or two somewhere, if I'm lucky. There were quite a few here and that was only just in the more common easier walking areas.
To be honest I'm useless at spotting anything but my girlfriend is great so that's I get to see things! Hihi aren't too hard to find as there's a couple of feeders. Kererū are around and one was even chilling out on the lawn in front of the homestead. Saw a Robin, Pīwakawaka, Tuī going at Kowhai flowers, and in general plenty of bird noises walking through the forest tracks.
And it's free. We stayed at the homestead so there's a cost to that of course, but this review is just about the sanctuary itself.
