点评：Many thanks to Kayaking Florida and Roger for a memorable excursion in the beautiful Silver Springs. I've never seen such crystal clear water!
My husband and I chose a clear kayak guided tour led by Roger who provided an interesting historical narrative of the springs as well as insights into the habits of the wildlife. Best of all he was excellent at spying a variety of animals and plants - we were blessed to see manatees, alligators, otter, monkeys, many fish and birds. We appreciated the highly organized but slow-paced tour. Communication was excellent and especially appreciated receiving a pic of our tour guide the night before so we knew who we were looking for.
Tips:
- We wished we had packed a picnic lunch - the state park entrance nearby leads you to an expansive deck with rocking chairs and picnic tables overlooking the springs. I could have sat there for hours. There are also walking trails through the park. There is a $2 entrance fee to the park but we told them we had paid the boat launch fee and we didn't have to pay this admission.
- You can put your phone on video and lay it on the bottom of the kayak to film the springs and fish as you paddle along.
- The clear kayaks are not as stable as other kayaks we have used. Just took a little getting used to.
- Most of the trail is shaded.
- We took our towels along. Probably wouldn't bother with that again.
