A Birthday Meal Let Down by Poor Customer Service

点评：We visited for my mum’s birthday and had booked in advance, looking forward to a special family meal. The food we received was enjoyable, but unfortunately the experience towards the end of the meal left us feeling disappointed.
After finishing our main courses, we waited quite a while for dessert. We asked a waitress how long it would be and were told it would be “a while.” After waiting longer, I spoke directly to the chef for an update. He confirmed there would be a delay, but shortly afterwards we were effectively told that we could either wait another 10–15 minutes for the desserts or leave.
I fully appreciate that restaurants can get busy, and delays do happen. However, as paying customers who had booked in advance and were celebrating my mum’s birthday, I found the response quite dismissive and unprofessional. It made us feel uncomfortable and as though our custom was an inconvenience.
It’s a real shame because the restaurant itself is lovely, the atmosphere is nice, and we enjoyed the meal. However, customer service is just as important as the food, and on this occasion it fell well below expectations. If the kitchen is struggling during busy periods, perhaps additional staffing or better communication with customers would help avoid situations like this.
