My third holiday with this company showed how much things have changed since I first travelled with them in 2018. While weather impacted our tour, and we understood that can happen, I expected the company would move mountains (like it has in the past) to ensure we still received experiences on par with those outlined in the original itinerary, and attempt to make up for problems that occurred.
Instead, the company's response was that they were already spending extra money this season (I had thought that was factored into the tour price to start with?) so it was just too bad for us. They openly preferenced the company's best interest, such as quality of accommodation and unscheduled time off for staff, ahead of the best interest of the guests.
Perhaps the extra time off for staff was an effort to retain them, as staff shortages were also rampant - many resigning from their jobs out of exasperation with the working and living conditions. This further harmed our experience, and shows how much the administration of the company has gone downhill.
*I will say that most of the staff on the ground (who were left) retained the Outback Spirit culture of going above and beyond for guests, but they can only do so much.
