点评：We were in Minnesota for the first time, and what better place to visit first but the Minnesota State Capitol. Designed by architect Cass Gilbert, it is perhaps the most stunning state capitol that we've visited (this is #31). We started with a walk around the exterior of the building to see the stonework (white Georgia marble and St. Cloud granite) and the statuary by Daniel Chester French. Then we entered the building, enjoying the views of the atrium and dome, the staircases, and the hallways. The building is exquisitely beautiful! Free admission. Free guided tours hourly every day. Ours was a small group of 8 or so. Our tour guide led us throughout the building, into the three chambers: Senate, House, and Supreme Court, where there are murals by John LaFarge, Edwin Blashfield, Elmer Garnsey, Kenyon Cox, and others. We stopped in the Governor's Receiving Room and found more art by Douglas Volk and Francis Millet and Howard Pyle. A month later, still thinking about what we saw there!
