点评：We originally planned to go to Fort William to ride the Jacobite Steam Train (a/k/a the “Harry Potter Train”); however, due to regulatory issues, the carriage car (for which we had reservations) was no longer available. I had previously engaged Andrew for a half-day tour and, given the issues with the train, we added a second half-day tour. Andrew shared his amazing wealth of knowledge about the area and its history, replete with fun anecdotes, as well as showing us numerous locations where various Harry Potter scenes were filmed and providing context about the scenes as used in the film franchise.
At his suggestion, on the first day, we attended the Glenfinnan Gathering Highland Games, an experience that far exceeded anything that we would have experienced on the Jacobite Steam Train. Given the location of the games, we were also able to see the train cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct, so we still got a bit of the HP train experience.
The next day, we toured Lochaber and were treated to not only Harry Potter sites, but areas of historical significance that most tourists do not ordinarily see. Sometimes when things don’t work out as originally planned, they turn out far better than one could have ever imagined. Thanks to Andrew, this was certainly the case. We would happily go touring with Andrew again. Cheers!
