点评：Where do I start? Our trip to France was everything we could have imagined, thanks to Nicolas.
At the end of January, my mother announced she would like to go to Lourdes, to which my dad replied with his own request: Normandy. As they are both in their 80s, I knew I would have to "chaperone" but with my schedule, I also knew there was no way I could plan a trip for them. And not just a trip, but one where we had someone to drive us from place to place, and take care of accommodations, and every other little detail. I searched the internet for a tour company that would be able to plan the trip my parents were looking for, without breaking the bank. Nicolas did that and so much more!
After consulting a map, flying into Paris made the most sense; however Lourdes is in the southern part of France, and Normandy is back up north. Undeterred, Nicolas made it all work. He arranged our transfers from the airport to the hotel, our hotel to the train station which would take us to Lourdes, and then the best part.... upon arriving in Lourdes we would be met by our own driver/guide, Anne!
Anne was the French sister I never knew I had. She was warm and funny and the perfect fit for our crazy family. Anne took such good care with my parents, making sure they stayed hydrated (it was warm in Lourdes!), stopping for lunch and snacks during the day (my dad is diabetic), and so much more. She seemed to anticipate what they needed and was one step ahead of any request they had.
We made an overnight in Saumur on our way to Bayeux (it was almost a 9 hour drive from Lourdes to Normandy, too long to do in a day) and that was our only rainy evening.
I need to pause here in my review and mention a little fly in the ointment, so to speak. After Nicolas had completely booked our tour... hotels, transfers, meals, entrance tickets, you name it... my brother wanted to meet us in Normandy to surprise my parents. I reached out to Nicolas to explain the dilemma and without missing a beat, he arranged accommodations for my brother as well, along with everything else he had planned for us. I can't thank Nicolas enough for helping us surprise my parents.
Upon arriving in Bayeux at the Hotel Tardif Noble (more on that later), we did indeed surprise my parents with my brother's arrival. Such a fun memory, with everyone in on it except my parents. (it took them 4 minutes to realize that was my brother sitting in the chair in the parlor of the hotel!).
When I say everything from start to finish was wonderful, it truly was. The hotels that were chosen, from the Hotel Tardif Noble (where my parents had a beautiful suite that looked over the Bayeux Cathedral) to Hotel Anne d'Anjou in Saumur, the Hotel de l'Arcade in Paris (within walking distance to so many places), the Grand Hotel Gallia & Londres in Lourdes (where my parents had a great view of the Sanctuary grounds and the procession), to the BnB that my brother and I shared in Bayeux (owned by Gregory and Selma, the most wonderful hosts), every single one of them was amazing (we didn't know ahead of time the names of the hotels; we were just given a general location and description of them).
We did the Bayeux Tapestry and Nicolas booked us an all day tour of Normandy with a private guide. She was full of history and shared her knowledge with us. We learned so much. In Lourdes, he arranged for a 2 hour tour of the Sanctuary and the grounds, which gave us a nice overview of the area. Andrea, our guide, was also a wealth of knowledge, and could have been the French cousin that I never met.
I would not hesitate to book another tour with Nicolas and his company. He truly made my parents so very happy, and we made great memories together.
