点评：We took a tour of the Esquipulas Rainforest bird sanctuary with Oscar, the founder of Birding Spots. We cannot recommend it highly enough. It was absolutely outstanding.
Oscar's knowledge of, and passion regarding the birds of Costa Rica is extraordinary. He helped the family that runs Esquipulas to understand that they could establish a birding sanctuary on their property, and that has enabled them to build a thriving business for the family and the surrounding community.
Our tour involved a number of stops along the rustic road leading to and away from the sanctuary at Esquipulas, as well as a tasty breakfast and excellent coffee at the sanctuary itself. During our multi-hour tour, Oscar spotted and showed us one gorgeous tropical bird after another. He was able to hear their calls and get them into his scope within seconds or minutes - and then to share a scientist's understanding of each bird's behavior and unique characteristics. His English is truly excellent and, to top it all off, he's an incredibly nice, easygoing guy.
