点评:We arrived in Maun on June 29th where we and our group led by Deb Stephens (Timeless Journeys) were met by Peace Shamuka and his wonderful employee Relax. Over dinner they explained what we were going to be seeing and doing for the next 24 days. The following is a list of my observations, recommendations and my conclusion.
Peace was totally attentive to our wants and needs and in any situation he and Relax would ensure our comfort and satisfaction.
Both guides are walking encyclopedias of knowledge in any subjects related to their beloved Botswana. Every animal, each blade of grass, the many birds, the changing skies, the people.
I was especially moved by Peace and Relax and every Botswanan along the way. The happy little children in the villages and cities, the villagers that Peace had at his camp to entertain us in their native music and dance, but mostly Peace and his crew.
We would spend long days in the safari trucks but right at about 10 a.m. We'd stop and Peace and Relax would open up their camp table and serve us fresh French pressed coffee, tea, biscuits and fruit. At periodic intervals we would stop to "check the tire pressure". The guides would sweep the area and clear us to go to our respective areas, boy one way and girls the other. Tires were good.
Upon arriving at our camps at sunset each evening we'd be met by the camp crew beneath a canvas canopy to a long table decorated with beautiful linens and stem ware, amazing South African wines and a roaring campfire where we'd recall our daily adventures and all get to know each other better each day. Eric the chef and his crew were miraculous with the several courses made available every night. The baking of breads, cakes and biscuits over a woodfire was very impressive.
We were mostly 13 strangers from the western hemisphere and Europe most with no idea of what was to occur. The chemistry of the group mixed with that of the guides and the crew was remarkable. We are all dear friends for life. I left Botswana with great memories and a deep love and admiration for Peace and his wonderful son Andrew. We are family......forever.
