Brilliant trip up the lake to Pooley bridge.

点评：Had a great trip out on the steamer from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge. Price of £50, two adults and one dog, acceptable and worth the money. Lovely skipper and crew and on a cold but dryish day it was a lovely day out.
However the car park that is next to the pier is an extortionate price of £8 for 5 hours, which actually is only just enough time to catch the boat at 12.05 and return by 5pm. However if you get the 10am boat the parking would be £12. As I don’t walk well there was very little choice but to park and pay the price. Local toilet block also charges 50p, only payable by card and once in I found all the toilet paper was damp and refused to come out of the dispenser.
One saving was that the car park ticket had a voucher on for a free cup of coffee ( personally can’t stand the stuff) but hubby made use of it and got a coffee before we departed (cafe was shut when we got back). So in theory we saved £4 off the car parking but actually only got a drink on principle. There is other parking around the area, but too far for me to walk, and we had arrived on a tight schedule due to various closed roads on our route.
The boat was still well worth it though.
