点评:What’s not to like, you are in a forested area within a large city. Founded in 1928, it encompasses 190 acres with 12 miles of hiking trails. Home to and amazing 2,300 species of trees and shrubs… Hard to fathom the breath and the significance of this place. The first trees were planted in 1930 and most of these planned trees (grouped by plant families) were planted by 1944.
Amazingly, the park is open from 5am to 10pm and is free to visit (however parking is not free in all areas). The visitor center is open from 9am to 5pm. Trail maps are available outside the visitor center (or use their digital map). The person at the visitor center was super friendly and obviously had a passion for the place. It made us want to visit it even more than we had wanted already.
Some of the trails you will find: Ginkgo, White Pine, Redwood, Red Pine, Fir, Wildwood, Oak, Larch, Bamboo, Magnolia, Beech, Dogwood, Spruce, Bristlecone, Walnut, or Maple.
They offer various public tours depending on the season – check out their website for more information prior to going there. Very peaceful but be mindful that this area hosts coyotes. Enjoy!
