Mahon Falls (a.k.a. Eas na Machan)的点评
点评：Visited today and were so glad we took the trip. The older kids (11 & 6) really enjoyed the walk and climbing on the rocks / crossing the water etc before having a bit of a picnic in such a beautiful setting.
We also brought the baby in her buggy and while it was certainly challenging pushing the buggy along the gravel track, it wasnt impossible though there is a serious enough hill as you get close to the waterfall. However, dont let this dissuade you, its worth it.
Mahon Falls is located about 30 mins from Waterford City in a picturesque mountain setting between Kilmacthomas and Dungarvan. It is approx 10-15 mins from the main road and you need your full focus driving on the narrow winding roads up to it.
There are at least 2 potential coffee/cafe stops along between the main road and the car park. These are at Crough Coffee and Cooneys Yard. We stopped into the latter to heat a bottle, use the facilities and have a quick coffee . We were only raging we didnt allow more time so we could try the food here as all the baked treats looked delish!!!
There is a car park close to the waterfall which is fab & watch out for all the free roaming sheep - they are great craic! It takes 10-15 mins or so to walk from the car park to the waterfall but you can hang out down there for a while if the weather is good. There is also a more challenging hiking route around the hills here but it is estimated to take a number of hours and was not suitable for our trip with kids/buggy.
