Cracking tour - should have done it a long time ago!
Belhaven Brewery的点评
点评：Being an East Lothian resident I'm familiar with the Belhaven brewery in general and have had the luck of tasting a lot of their beers in local bars for years. Finally went on the tour with my dad for his birthday and it was a superb wee afternoon.
Chris the guide was brilliant, knowledgeable and happy to take questions on all manner of things beer related and just local history - I can testify he knew his stuff being locals ourselves.
The brewery produces a huge amount of beer for the relatively small number of staff they have (55 if remember correctly) and the tasting was great. The Monk's Retreat is a lovely wee bar and not a manufactured stale room like a lot of the whisky distilleries offer. I can imagine that place would be bouncing at staff parties....
The biggest surprise was that the gift shop offered all the Belhaven favourites and also some exclusive beers only available in there and all fairly priced.
If you're in the area, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours.
