点评：Tantallon Castle is, without a doubt, one of the most atmospheric historical sites I have ever visited. If you have any appreciation for medieval architecture, this is a pilgrimage you have to make.
The first thing that hits you is the location. Perched on a dramatic cliffside overlooking the North Sea, the castle feels like it was carved directly out of the coastline. The massive red sandstone curtain wall is a staggering feat of 14th-century engineering—standing before it, you truly feel the weight of Scottish history.
What fascinated me most was the defensive genius of the Red Douglases. Walking through the ruins, I found myself constantly imagining the castle in its full, original glory. While the skeletal remains are hauntingly beautiful, I couldn't help but wish I could see it with its roofs intact and banners flying, just as it stood before the siege of 1651.
