点评:I've never written to criticize before but...
I've 'done' three VBT cycling tours. The first was The Atlantic Coast of Ireland and it was excellent. Zero problems and very enjoyable.
The second was the Normandy Coast in France. No one was at the airport in Paris to meet and provide transportation. A rep from another tour company saw me walking around in the arrival area after about 45 minutes and got me a taxi ride to my hotel with a driver who said he would be reimbursed by VBT. He spoke with others on the phone throughout the trip in French (I don't speak French) and not an experienced foreign traveler, I was fearful because I didn't know where we were going, etc. It turned out fine. The rest of the trip went as planned.
I wrote to VBT telling them of the problem and they never bothered to reply. I didn't ask VBT for anything, but hoped only for an apology; but nothing.
Thinking that the above problem was an anomaly, I gave them another shot, I signed up for the Switzerland, France, Germany trip this past Summer (2024). Lufthansa canceled a connecting flight and lost my luggage (no fault of VBT). They hadn't located it by the next day when my group was to leave the hotel to begin the ride. My only clothing was what I was wearing. It was raining and my cycling gear and rain gear was in the lost bag. We were scheduled to be in a different city and hotel every night (and in other countries) so it was doubtful that my luggage would find me. I informed the guide that I had to abort.
When he notified VBT they cancelled everything INCLUDING MY RETURN TICKET HOME AND LEFT ME STRANDED IN EUROPE SO I HAD TO PURCHASE A TICKET HOME.
By-the-way...The Redpoint insurance company they partnered with rejected my claim saying that I could have continued with the tour and only paid me $250.00 for my "minor inconvenience." Apparently none of them rode bikes or they just didn't care. MAK
