点评:Although as an 82-year-old I could not visit several of the temple buildings and other sights (high, slippery stone staircases etc) what I did see entirely deserved the five stars I have given. The nature - golden leaved autumn trees, rock formations and above all the moss-covered ground beside the main path through the monastery grounds all indicate a perfect union of nature and landscaping. In short it is a stunning place. The monastery is very ancient, dating from 717 c.e. Don't miss the enormous, thousand armed statue of the Kannon, Goddess of mercy in the recently rebuilt temple just beyond the entry.
Getting there from Kanazawa is another story. The slow suburban train (41 stops!) leaves from a terminal next to the main JR station and details can be obtained from the Tourist Information office in the main station. Then a bus ride, then a ten minute walk. Buses stop at 4.30p.m. so its best to leave in the morning.
