点评:Zuihoden is the star historical attraction of Sendai. IMO, probably one of the most architecturally distinct group of historical structures in Japan too.
The ornate structures and color scheme look nothing at all like other mausoleums or palaces in Japan. Some elements might make you think of Nikko’s Toshogu or Kyoto’s Karamon but even with these vague resemblances, the mausoleum is in a class of its own.
The surrounding grounds are wonderfully serene, too. At some parts, you feel like you’re venturing into a mystical forest. On the flip side, there are a lot of steps. Many uneven steps too. Beautiful as it is, this attraction might not be for everyone.
(Just to highlight, Zuihoden isn’t one structure—it’s a whole group across a hill. There are English descriptions at the most important ones)
