The most insane thing I’ve ever done
半圆顶的点评
点评：Half Dome is a 4737 foot tall mountain from the valley floor or 8846 feet above sea level. It took me and my group just over 12 hours round trip to complete(this includes a 45 mins break on the peak of the dome to take photos and enjoy the view, as well as many breaks during the hike). It’s truly not for the faint hearted as the last 400 feet(where a permit is required) you have to climb the cables, which from a distance looks vertical and as someone with a fear of heights, this will forever go down as a lifetime achievement. The views along the mist and John Muir trails to get up to the Half Dome trail were incredible, full of insane scenery and worth doing even if you don’t have permits to actually summit the dome itself. I am so proud of myself and the group that completed this hike, I always wanted to do this hike and face my fears and it was truly a dream come true.
Important info:
Despite all this I have to say that the final summit does come with danger, the cables are challenging and if there is any signs of poor weather, rain or cloud then it SHOULDN’T be attempted. People have lost their lives doing this hike and it is not something to be taken lightly, safety always comes first. We did it in the summer and it’s easy to become dehydrated whilst completing this hike, you need amble supplies of food and water and a decent level of fitness to be able to complete the hike. I personally couldn’t recommend someone to do the summit itself, the mist trail and John Muir trail have more than enough beauty and are more achievable. People should do the hike off your own decision and not a recommendation, it’s a risk you have to take and be responsible for, everyone should do ample research before considering. Be safe.
