点评:This is the wine museum that just keeps giving. After going down the stairs we thought it was just a simple wine shop that was underneath this old hospital but beyond this there is a tunnel and a whole cellar of large and elaborate wine barrels and some old wine making equipment. The cellar itself dates back to 1395 and has the oldest wine barrel in the world which dates back to 1472 and this barrel still has wine in it. There is a whole section of old wine barrels and some of the more important or historically significant barrels have signage to read to further explain what you are looking at. They also offer information pamphlets in a variety of different languages near the entrance.
The entrance is free but the hours are very limited (open 8:30-12 and 1:30-5:30 most days). You can rent an audioguide here for 3 euros but we did not think that was necessary when we visited. Guided tours are possible but you need to email in advance to make arrangements. There are also some tasting events called "portes-ouvertes" that they host and it seems the best way to find out about these is to check out there Facebook page.
We did not want to miss visiting here so we made sure to prioritize this on Christmas Eve. They sell a variety of Alsace wines at different price points and we really enjoyed the bottle of cabernet sauvignon we purchased. They are located off the city centre island to the south and we would recommend spending about 30 minutes here.
