A Remarkable Day at The Legacy Sites

点评：We visitedthis remarkable attraction, and were surprised to find out that the $5.00 entrance fee included the Legacy Museum, the National Memorial for Peace & Justice, and a boat ride on the Alabama River to Freedom Monument Sculpture Park. The value of these attractions far exceeded its cost! We spent about 2-1/2 hours at the Museum, but could have easily spent another 2 hours there looking at the various exhibits, but due to our own time constraints, and wanting to see the other attractions in one day, we next moved on to the Memorial for Peace & Justice (about 1 hour). This lovely park is a memorial to lynching victims - a very moving, beautifully unique exhibit in a park like setting. The walk around the park was probably about a mile in length, and included some gradual uphill/down hill paths to see everything. And, finally, the trip on the boat was relaxing & informational. There is a bit of a walk to & from the docks - down to the river’s edge, then up to the Sculpture Park, but there are both stairs & ramps to get you to both places. The Sculpture Park was fantastic! The sculptures & the stories they told were magnificent. We spent about 1-2 hours for both the boat trip & the Sculptures, and could have spent more time at the Sculpture Park, but quite frankly, we were exhausted - there was so much intense information to absorb throughout the day! Free shuttle rides were included to each of the venues from the Museum, and I would definitely advise that. You can park for free at the Museum. Across the street from the Museum is Legacy Plaza - another worthwhile spot to take in while you’re in the area. I would definitely recommend this visit to the Legacy sites, even if you have to go out of your way to get there… one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had!
