点评:I had to comment as i am totally gutted. In the 1980's i boarded this ship almost daily throughout the summer holidays. She was in Anstruther and she was beautiful, she also seemed a lot bigger back then (I'm sure my mum still has photo's of her when she was at her best) I haven't been to Anstruther in over 35 years but in July i'm going to the Isle of May (sailing from Anstruther) i had planned to take my now teenage kids on board and let them experience my memories.
Sadly as i was searching to show them the magnificent North Carr, you can imagine my disappointment when i found this.
In my child mind i thought she was a waxwork museum as there were statues of people, now as an adult and after visiting the Portsmouth dockyard, i believe the statues could have been the crew members as they would have been when the lightship was in service.
It's really sad that she's been allowed to get into this state and i really hope the funding can be found to restore her, so many more generations can enjoy the unique experience of boarding Scotland's famous lightship. I'm now debating if i should add an extra 90 miles onto my 1000 mile round trip to revisit one of my favourite childhood memories one last time.
I have not visited the North Carr in Dundee, but had to comment as she is part of my childhood.
