点评:This is a unique vessel, as it’s Scotland’s only existing lightship - built on the Clyde by A.J. Inglis, and launched in 1933 for the Northern Lighthouse Board. It’s one of only 2 lightships that served in Scottish waters, and played a vital role during WWII , safeguarding Arctic Convoys & army & navy vessels , at the entrance to the Clyde. The boat weighs 268 tons, and is 101 ft in length, and 25ft in beam. It was brought to Dundee in 2010, in the hopes that it would become a tourist attraction , as it was previously at Anstruther harbour - but sadly these ambitions never came to fruition. Now, it’s just slowly falling apart, and it appears no last-minute buyer or rescue package has materialised - so very much looks like this grand old lady will shortly be decommissioned and scrapped 😢. What a shame!
