点评:We visited the Sculpture Garden which located along Rue de la Regence (just as you passing the main entrance to the Royal Museum of Fine Arts). In truth, the park consists of one impressive sculpture of Aristide Maillol, a master of the female form and contemporary of Rodin. This is beautiful sculpture named The River (1938-1943), located in the middle of huge round pond with water lilies represents a woman sprawled on her side.
The wave-like figure teeters on the edge of a pool water, about to pour in. Is she a symbol of the mystery of water, the victim of war... or is she just washing her hair? Another copy of this bronze statue sprawls near a pool in the courtyard of New York's Museum of Modern Art. In fact, this is a small garden with a large sculpture and one bench, where we sat and relaxed for 15 -minutes, but the sculpture is worth looking at.
