点评:I do feel a little sad to see the old place as it is now, I loved it when it was an utter dump, peeling paint everywhere, art exhibitions in the garden room, the grotty cafe, the tacky gift shops in the arcade and colonnade. The entrance on the prom up steep stairs, the family who ran the sweet kiosk on the mezzanine. The utterly bizarre Indian restaurant, like a mock temple tacked onto the front of the building, just because! I even used to see homeless men sleeping in the auditorium on occasion, and nobody seemed to mind…..I could go on and on. But gone, all gone.
That’s not to detract from what it is now - a lovely place, all white marble, nice bars, refurbished auditoriums, and even a cinema added. It’s all very nice, and well worth a visit. Yes, it was falling down around itself, and something had to be done. But it’s just not what it was…,
