Windmills Of Lasithi Plateau的点评
点评：There are a few windmills in the area but the best ones are up on a ridge. The best viewing area is near the restaurant called Restaurant Tzanakis Michael and there are some spots to pull out here with a car. The restaurant was closed when we visited in March but the views we got up here were fantastic.
There are 24 windmills facing the sea and it is free to go to this area with your own vehicle. There isn't much of a walking path here but you can still get close and go around the windmills. Bring a good pair of shoes and be prepared for the exposure to the weather as it is very open. There is a sign explaining the history of windmills and how they work in Greek and English. There are also numerous windmills on the plateau so you will see different styles but we felt the stone ones on the ridge were the most interesting to see.
These windmills are located an hour outside of Heraklion and we made a day trip out here to visit the Cave of Zeus (Cave of Diktaion Andron). The drive is very winding and the roads are narrow at some points but we felt the views and scenery of the area were worth it. This was a highlight of our visit to Crete.
