Knole Park is in my ears, and in my eyes - but there's nothing to get hung about

点评：If you're a diehard Beatles fan like me, Knole Park is an essential day trip when visiting London. Sure, you can traipse around the city and see the various places where things notionally "happened", but hop on a train and head a little further afield - say Chiswick Gardens or in this case Sevenoaks - and you get to see some of the places that form part of The Beatles' legacy on film. For those not aware, Knole Park was the location in early 1967 for the filming of the promotional videos for 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and much of 'Penny Lane'. The filming locations for the latter are pretty easy to spot (i.e. the Birdhouse gate and nearby ponds), but there is MUCH misinformation on the web about the location of the Strawberry Fields tree (what's left of it), so do your research (hint: the right location is *not* within throwing distance of the house's garden wall, but you *can* see the wall from there). Otherwise, I've been to the cafe (meh), used the toilets (clean and modern) but not visited inside the house (no interest). Knole Park is a robust, mostly uphill walk or 5-minute Uber/taxi ride from the station to the carpark, and Sevenoaks itself has a lot of options for lunch when you're done. And as others have indicated, give both the deer and the Knole Park golfers a wide berth - both can become aggressive at the slightest provocation!
