点评:Maryland Watermen's Monument is conveniently located on Main Street in Grasonville at the front edge of the parking lot for a major area seafood restaurant. This obviously makes it easy to stop and view the monument up close. The metal sculpture sits on a marble base and features two fishermen in a small boat. The boat sits atop choppy waves reminiscent of those we saw on the Bay coming over today. Around the base are engraved names of what appears to be contributors. More appear on the surrounding bricks. An historic plaque/poster entitled Working the Waters describes the area fishing industry. Another metal plaque explains that the monument is dedicated to all watermen in Maryland, was commissioned by the Queen Anne’s County Waterman's Festival Directors in 2003, and lists more contributors. If one stays on the busy US Highway 50 that is elevated above the monument one will miss this important landmark. Fortunately a visit to a local restaurant made it easy for us to view the monument up close.
