点评:First if all a quick heads-up: Be sure to check with some locals about seasonal closure of the park, don't expect everything to be open and therefore don't count on being able to enter the caves.
We went out of season (early april) and had a great day, just on our own. If you choose to do so as well, just take some small extra preparatory steps like bringing enough food and early in the season also definitely a couple extra layers for warmth and breaking the wind.
Tazekka Nat. Park is really very beautiful and has diverse nature.
We took a rental car from Fez and did a round-trip drive through the park (entering Southern side, exiting north-eastern side). The roads were under maintenance on some short trajectories, but elsewise predominantly in pretty good condition.
The views of the slopes and small mountains are really pretty. There are olive trees and cork trees all along the drive. You pass along the reservoir behind a damn and get great views. There was a section where clearly not too long ago a forest fire had raged, but some of the burnt branches were sprouting new life already and the parts of the slopes bearing the skeletons of the trees actually gave a cool eery atmosphere.
As you drive, you rise from approx 600m above sea level to approx 1300m and get better and better views. We happened to have a cool and very windy day.
After many vistas and deliciously twisting hairpin roads, we finally arrived at the (closed!) visitor's information centre. The centre is at the bottom of an approx 1-1,5hr hike up to mount (Jbel) Bouhadli. The hike could be experienced as mediocre strenuous. (We had a dry period, but if it were to have rained recently, then do expect this to be a tricky muddy slippery trail!) It takes you through some evergreens, past a forest of gnarly-shaped deciduous trees which sport beautiful lychen and mosses. After that you arrive near the peak of the mountain, and you ascend a rocky bald peak. On top you get a truly magnificent 360 view of the park which is absolute great return on investment.
We drove onwards in the hopes to visit the Caves of Friouato, but out of season it was closed unfortunately. We could walk to the brim of a deep crevice which looked very promising for the secrets hidden below... Guess we'll need to come back another time!
We then drove onwards to the Cascades of Ras el Ma, but in a relatively dry spring (April) the river was already not flowing anymore.
We experienced this Park to be a little gem which is very near Fez and undeservedly under-illuminated by local tour operators. And remarkably, several of the Fez' people didn't even recognize the name Tazekka when we said we were going...! So big thanks to Capitool Reisgidsen for pointing us to this hidden beauty.
Tazekka Nat。
