点评:Here's the short version. The little things add up. There's not one massively glaring issue with Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, GA, but there are so many small problems that add up to form a mostly disappointing experience. This saying also applies to how many add-ons and upgrades they try to sell you on both before and during your visit. We left feeling very nickel-and-dimed and frustrated with what we paid vs. what we got. We would consider coming back to the waterpark using a day pass as that was the highlight, but we will never stay there again.
We visited on a Monday-Wednesday at the beginning of December. It was very cold and kids were back in school after Thanksgiving break. Keep that in mind with this review.
We arrived around 12pm and I completed our check-in at the kiosk with no problems and went to the Buc-ee’s about 40 minutes south to pass time. At 1pm we got a text that our room was ready which wasn't expected, but very appreciated.
One of the first things we noticed was what we believed to be a lot of trash in the parking lot. That was concerning as the parking lot is a first impression of what's to come. I think the parking fee is kind of ridiculous as you would expect the parking lot to at least be clean.
At check-in you get wristbands which you have to wear for duration of the stay which was pretty annoying. Keep these on as they are your room key and how you get in/out.
When we got into our room my first thought was everything looked dated and worn out. This hotel opened in 2018 but it feels much older than that. Carpet had stains in many places (yuck) and trash was found behind toilets and doors (by our under two-year-old daughter no less...so double yuck). Our room had a patio with chairs just strewn about and what looked like a leftover cigar on the ground. Triple yuck.
We purchased a Wolf Pass and were not given any instructions on how to redeem it by anyone or the kiosk at check-in. It took us walking all the way down to the MagiQuest room just to find out you have to get these passes at the front desk. Annoying but thankfully the front desk had no line so it was quick.
Our daughter loved playing with the wand and pointing it at the different game components scattered throughout the hotel. I don't know the actual point of the game as we didn't bother to learn it. But that's on us, not the staff.
We got dinner at Hungry as a Wolf (Duran Duran played in my head the whole time). Pizza was very good. In fact, better than most pizza I get at any theme park or even Disney. One thing to note is that for all the places we ate, you have to order at a kiosk and that kiosk will ask you to tip no matter what you get. I'm not against tipping at all when it makes sense but to ask for a tip just for someone to hand me a cup is silly. Yes, I could say no tip, but why am I being asked in the first place?
When we got back to our room to get settled in for bed I observed a noticeable stain on the bed sheets which grossed me out bad. On top of that, one of the pillows looked absolutely dirty on the bottom. The next morning I promptly went to the front desk and asked that the bedding be completely changed and it was changed within the hour which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately, this new bedding had some stains on the side which I didn't notice until the day of check out.
The next morning we went to the waterpark and that was the highlight of the entire stay. There's a fun kiddie area with slides and water apparatuses which our daughter loved and there were some fun slides for the older kids and adults to enjoy. My favorite part was the lazy river! You'd never know the real feel temperature outside was in the forties because it was nice and toasty inside! Overall, this was the best part. We brought our own towels so we didn't bother to learn about their towel rental system or locker system since we could keep things in our room.
Later that night we got a flyer in our door about adding an extra night for $75. I figured our daughter had so much fun in the waterpark that we should give it a shot. The front desk informed us that our rate would actually be $99 plus tax and parking which weirdly enough was a non-starter for me despite the amount of money I already put it to the trip at that point. Plus, I really just wanted to be out of that room so I'm glad that the rate was different but it goes to the larger theme of my Great Wolf Lodge experience which is us feeling nickled-and-dimed by everything. Even before our visit we would get bi-weekly emails trying to sell us add-ons and upgrades and late check-outs and cabanas and meal plans and oh my Lord make it stop. Even when we redeemed our Wolf Pass benefits at the MagiQuest game, they told us our redemption is only good for the basic wand...but we could upgrade to a better want for a cost! (By the way, our basic wand's bottom battery part fell open when we went to hand it to the cashier...not a joke). When we redeemed our Wolf Pass in the arcade it was good for THREE games BUT WAIT...you can upgrade your card (only at the time of redemption) for a cost. I shouldn't have been surprised, but yet I was.
Check-out was easy. We just had to text the virtual assistant, Willow, the word "out" and everything was complete.
Overall, here's the positive...the waterpark is great. We loved it. The MagiQuest game was fun for our daughter and kept her entertained. The food that we had was good. The cleanliness was not good for what I expected and what I paid. I can't recommend that anyone stay here, but I would recommend getting a day pass to check out the waterpark.
