点评：Overall, Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange gets a solid 4 out of 5 stars from our family!
First things first: the waterpark is absolutely fantastic. It was fun, exciting, and had something for literally everyone in our family, from our newly minted 5-year-old all the way to the adults pretending they weren't racing each other down the slides.
The lodge activities were also such a win. The dance glow parties were an unexpected highlight and honestly looked like someone combined a kid rave with pure joy. The energy was contagious and the kids absolutely loved it. 🥳
We purchased the Wolf Pass, which included mini golf, bowling, the ropes course, and the rock wall. Totally worth it. Parent pro tip: bring shoes with backs if you plan on doing the ropes course or climbing wall unless your child enjoys disappointment and arguing with physics.
The arcade was surprisingly affordable, which may actually be some kind of miracle in the family resort world. Usually arcades require taking out a second mortgage, but this one felt refreshingly reasonable.
And the FOOD. Oh my goodness, the food. Hands down the BEST food options we've experienced at any family resort we've visited. There was actually variety, it tasted good, and nobody in our family had to survive solely on chicken tenders and regret.
We celebrated our daughter's 5th birthday during our stay and purchased the birthday package. It included door decorations, balloons, a cake, birthday plates, and a $20 game card, and it made her feel incredibly special. We also did the birthday check-in bag and I HIGHLY recommend adding it on. It was adorable and such a fun way to kick off the trip.
The staff throughout the resort were genuinely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Every interaction felt welcoming, which goes a long way when you're traveling with excited children who have consumed approximately their body weight in sugar.
Now for the reason this isn't a full 5 stars: the rooms.
We stayed in the Wolf Suite with the bunk beds, queen bed, and pull-out sofa. The online photos definitely make it appear larger than it actually is. Once luggage enters the room, personal space becomes more of a concept than a reality.
The beds unfortunately weren't very comfortable, and the bunk room had a particularly exciting feature: every time the AC kicked on, it sounded exactly like driving down the highway with one window cracked open. Not a gentle hum. Not white noise. Full helicopter mode. 😫
Also, no microwave in the room.
Listen, I understand the business model. I do. But every parent knows that kids possess the remarkable ability to request a $20 order of fries, eat exactly three fries, declare themselves full, and then become starving thirty-seven minutes later. A microwave for leftovers, snacks, and picky eaters feels less like a luxury and more like essential survival equipment.
As for the price? It's Great Wolf Lodge. Nobody accidentally books a trip there expecting budget travel. You arrive mentally prepared to exchange an arm and at least one leg for memories, and honestly... the memories were worth it.
Would we come back? Absolutely. We'd just pack earplugs and maybe a microwave.
