Arriving at the Bellarine distillery door ('The Whiskery') Kai looked after us and told us about each of the drams in the flight we ordered. After chatting for a while and seeing that we had a genuine interest in whisky she introduced us to head distiller, Craig. He gave us a lot of his time and was kind enough to offer an unscheduled visit to the barrel house, where we met Lock as well.
Craig told us a lot about Bellarine's history, their range of whiskies and plans for the future. When we returned to The Whiskery, who should be there but Russ, who established the distillery with wife Lorelle ten years ago, so our discussions continued.
Thanks partly to fortuitous timing but mostly to everyone we met, we had a wonderful visit at Bellarine Distillery.
And most importantly - the they make great whisky.
