点评:I was actually driving through this area when I happened to pass the Chief Menomonee monument. It piqued my curiosity and since I had a few minutes I thought I would check it out.
This is a relatively small, well kept, triangular park with a monument of Chief Menomonee in the center. I was disappointed in the absolute lack of information about this site or what led to the removal of the Pottawatomie in the surrounding area, but surprised to see a monument to an Indian Chief here in Indiana.
After doing a little research on what this monument represents, it means so much more than a small park in a quiet out of the way place. I had no idea this forced relocation happened, much less that it happened in this area and why. Made me a little sad, but very happy I happened across this dedication to a people who deserved better. This is a great reminder of what once was, lest we not forget.
