A fantastic performance as always but the restaurant still doesn’t hit the spot.,

点评：Firstly I would like to state the positives. We went to see My Fair Lady on Friday 16th Jan and what a performance it was. A fantastic spectacle of music, dance and beautiful acting. Notable performances came from Mark Maraghan as Elizas Dad and Simbi Akande, Eliza herself. A real feel good show that was equally comparable to the last time The Mill put on My Fair Lady. The restaurant has improved with larger portions, hotter food and a more bedded in service but I’m still not sold on the “at table” model. The rationale for this was so you didn’t need to queue for the buffet but instead you now queue to be seated. The buffet was still, by far a better arrangement being able to tailor your choice to what you know you’d eat. This brings me on to some negatives. The loss of the 4for3 midweek promotion is a shame. The Mill is not cheap. We used to use that promotion to come as a group 5 to 6 times a year so if it was a stinker of a play it didn’t matter too much. With the loss of this promotion my group and I have decided we will limit our attendance to the Christmas Musical only instead deciding to spend our money on regional theatre with both Barnum and Pricilla booked. We decided that we needed to spend our money on theatre that we know we’d enjoy with it being too risky to take shots on unknown plays at The Mill. Still a fantastic venue but lost a bit of soul.
