点评:SSenkoji Park would generally refers to the surrounding area of the famous Senkoji Temple (千光寺), perhaps Onomichi's most iconic landmark.
Mt. Senkoji is not a high mount comparatively, with an altitude of 144.2m, and is situated at northern side of the Sanyo Main Line Onomichi sta. This is our 2nd trip to Onomichi and we decided to try out the route way & explore the rea further. It was a Thursday afternoon & weather hot..
Senkoji Park spreads from the summit to the middle of the mountain. We took a single trip 500 yen up to the top and explore the temple ground. Panoramic views indeed of the cityscape at the Park Observatory and there is a lift that traverse 3 levels so very user friendly. Then we walked our way slowly down first passing through the most popular attraction of the Path of Literature. It contains stones engraved with the musings of famous poets and authors and total some 25 monuments including Hayashi Fumiko, Matsuo Basho, and Shiga Naoya. The path is meandering and could be quite slippery at some places.
Shortly after it was the cat’s alley, with houses and the greens. And within 30 mins we are down to ground level, seeing the JR track just nearby.
