Our hike to the central Daisetzuzan plateau took place on a gloomy day in early August, starting from Sounkyo Onsen, where we were staying overnight.
After the cable car and chairlift, those of our group who were interested took the steep and rugged path from the upper station of the chairlift to Mt. Kurodake and then to the edge of the plateau, overcoming an altitude difference of over 460 mts. From here we hoped that the clouds would open and that we could admire the scenic plateau, up to the highest peaks, Asahidake and Hokkai-dake.
Along the way the group dispersed, so I ended up climbing alone.
The flora is lush, favored by the humid and relatively hot climate of the park in summer. This concerns both the trees, which accompany your climb up to at least 1750 mts., and the thick bushes among which - as in a green corridor - you walk afterwards.
Unfortunately, even after I completed my ascent to the summit, the fog didn't clear, so I could only imagine the panorama of the plateau.
The satisfaction of the ascent remains, as well as the pleasant sensation given by walking in the lush vegetation.
