Impressive Levels of Animal Cruelty
Awashima Marine Park的点评
点评：I came to Awashima ‘Marine Park’ with a friend fanatic of Love Live. I was told that we would be visiting the “most depressing aquarium in the country” but what followed was much worse.
We were greeted upon arrival with penguins who looked as if they were on the brink of emaciation, rooted to the spot in an effort to conserve what little energy remained. Entering the aquarium, a dead fish rotted beneath the shallow waters of the swimming pool which looked fit for perhaps a small dog - yet which housed scores of fish (one being a shark whose fin had been worn down through what we can only presume was years of swimming around the brink of the enclosure).
Other highlights from inside included several fish laying upon the sand - maybe dead, maybe not (it was hard to tell) - spider crabs, static, as they had no room to move, and a ‘touching exhibit’ including another shark who had resigned itself to a life of misery being violently manhandled by tourists.
Outside, the scenes weren’t any less shocking. Two turtles clearly yearned for freedom, one, with a degree of futility, attempting to summit the rocks caging it in, and the other stood firm in the corner, gaining the energy to mount one final escape attempt. The sea-lions were trapped in aquified prison cells, desperately swimming in circles, the diameters of which less than the sea-lions’ own length - one also looked dead.
A further penguin exhibit proved just as harrowing. Two penguins were frantically trying to escape the watery box which they had been given to swim in, while the murky waters of the other area looked to have housed some sort of exotic waterborne disease.
Cheap beer.

另一个企鹅展区也同样令人毛骨悚然。两只企鹅正疯狂地试图逃离它们被安排在里面游泳的水箱，而另一侧浑浊的海水似乎滋生了某种外来的水传播疾病。
