点评:We arrived just as a tour of the trawler Ross Tiger (as in Ross foods) was about to begin – so we were directed there first – our tour guide was a former Trawler skipper with a long history of putting to sea although not on the Ross Tiger – his knowledge and experiences painted a vivid picture of what it was like to put to sea – long days with little sleep – the constant noise of the engine room – the need for a good cook to deliver tasty meals at any time of the day and in all weathers – the cramped accommodation in narrow bunks - communal washroom facilities – up to 15 days at sea followed by 3 days rest and then back to sea - a hard life
With this understanding the different exhibition areas of the museum can be really appreciated – especially the one where bad news is being received – a reason why family members didn’t sail together – the fish and chip shop – the pub with the returning trawlermen in their finest – keeping to the tradition of having their first pint or two before returning home – there is a shop and café – paid parking nearby as well as a Sainsburys next door – this is a very good museum and is as relevant today as it was when the Ross Tiger went to sea – thank you
