点评:We entered Cahuita National Park without a guide and walked to the right from the Kelly Creek entrance towards the creek. At this location, we saw Mr. Geurds with a group of clients for the first time. We observed him pointing out a yellow snake, and naturally, we stopped briefly to take a look as well.
We continued our walk and were fortunate to spot a sloth moving in the trees. However, all of a sudden Mr. Geurds appeared from behind and started shouting at us in Dutch, falsely accusing us of following him and demanding that we leave or book a tour with him.
A verbal exchange followed, during which we clarified that the park is open to everyone and that we had every right to observe wildlife freely. In response, Mr. Geurds became aggressive, repeatedly shouting that we should leave. His behavior was hostile, unprofessional, and highly inappropriate for someone representing the tourism sector.
We reported the incident to the park reception and provided a photo of the guide to support our complaint.
We have had excellent experiences with guides throughout our time in Costa Rica, and we believe that this individual's conduct tarnishes the otherwise wonderful reputation of Costa Rica’s tourism.
